Volunteer Days can be arranged for companies wanting to help the local community. Tasks can range from cutting back hedging, woodchip laying, gardening to painting fairy houses! If your company is interested contact us at: thefossfairytrail@gmail.com
We are always on the lookout for new volunteers. We are conscious that people have very busy lives. We have a very flexible approach to volunteering with no set weekly days our times.
Tasks down the trail run from gardening, maintenance of the trail, making fairy doors and houses to helping run events and workshops.

My name is Rebecca Stenton, I’m a Graphic Design student studying at York St John University and one of my projects was to go on a journey and document my findings. I chose to go down the Foss Fairy Trail and eventually I created a booklet for people of all ages to have whilst walking along the trail. It includes information about the trail and the types of fairies that might be found on the trail, it is also interactive as it encourages you to look out for houses and to appreciate the nature surrounding you. You can download the PDF here and use it on your phone or even print it off to use whilst on your walk!
Employees's from the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner volunteer down the trail on 9 May 2023. They managed to wade through lots of tasks ranging from digging holes, painting to woodchip laying. Thank you to all who took the time to come along!!! Great work!!!
We had a very productive day with a team of volunteers from the Environment Agency on 21 September 2022. Historic drains leading into the river were cleared, hedging was cut back and a lavender bed was planted amongst other things!
Thank you to the team for all their hard work, it was a wonderful day!
